Wedding Planning Advice :: Do I really need a theme?

Wedding Planning Advice

As a wedding planner in Orlando, Florida, one of the biggest questions that I hear from brides and grooms is, “Do I really need a theme?” We are happy to report that the answer to this burning question is NO! When it comes to wedding days, many times a couple will say that they just want the theme of their wedding day to be wedding and that is something we completely understand. While some couples may have always dreamed of a vintage style wedding or a rustic style wedding or even a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding, many couples just want an elegant and classic wedding.

One of the biggest things to understand about wedding themes is that anything can be considered a theme. A color palette, a style, even descriptive words such as classic, romantic, elegant, ect.  A black, white and gold elegant wedding is just as much a theme as rustic.

The definition of theme is this: give a particular setting or ambiance to (a venue or activity).

That said, when it comes to your wedding day, our wedding planning advice is to make sure you are creating the ambiance and feeling that you want your guests to experience on wedding day. Do you want them transported to another place and time when they step into your reception room? Do you envision a ceremony that is dripping in floral to make guests feel like they are in a secret garden> Maybe you want to focus on your family and those who are celebrating with you from near and far so you envision the wedding day to be warm and special for everyone involved. All of these things and more can be considered your theme.

Throughout the wedding planning, you might find an element that continues to come through on all of your details. Maybe you really love Rose Gold and look for embellishments or accessories to keep with that look. Maybe you find yourself including starfish in various details of your stationary. You might choose something that is representative of your fiance and yourself to stand out among the details of the wedding (like these adorable bride and groom giraffes on top of the cake!) Whatever it is that you choose to have be the vision for the wedding day, let it truly shine in the various aspects of your day!
